Rhetorical Analysis Reflection
I began my writing process for this project by picking a piece of writing that I actually cared about. Next, I went on to annotate it and identify my rhetorical techniques, and then I created my rough draft, and we did peer-reviews in class. I found our peer-reviews to be extremely helpful because getting feedback from other students enabled me to determine whether I was on the right track in my analysis, and reading other people’s drafts helped me to see how I could add more of the rhetorical language into my paper while still using my own voice. After we conducted our peer-reviews I went through my draft and added more rhetorical terms and more explanation about logos, pathos, and ethos.

I think that the strengths of this paper are my presentation of rhetorical techniques and this discussion of my paper on female sexuality. Overall, I felt like I met the requirements of the paper, but I thought it came off as kind of dull; I just didn’t know how to make it more engaging while focusing on the rhetorical analysis aspect of the paper rather than on discussing my paper on sexuality. Something that I had trouble with while putting this piece together was that I wasn’t sure how to incorporate ‘exigence’ into my paper because it is just not a term I’m really comfortable with, but I can see how it’s an important term to include in the discussion of a rhetorical context. I’m also wondering how purpose and motivation are different in a rhetorical analysis, but I’m open to any and all feedback regarding this project because it really was a new experience for me.
